Valentines. It's a day of love. I must admit that I am one that has always kinda laughed at this day. Seriously, shouldn't love be something we show everyday?!? This year though I think my mind has changed. I LOVED Valentines this year! It all started on Friday with the kids parties at school. Lexi and her class sang a whole bunch of songs for us. I love watching little kids sing and get all embarrassed. Seriously, to cute!!
Anika's class played a fun game. They all had a plate of whip cream with a gumball in the middle. They could not use their hands and had to find the gum.
Taylor worked so hard on her snow-man box. I think it turned out so cute!
Jackson of course loves rotating through the classes and getting hooked up with all the goodies...
When I got home with the kids from school I received a e-mail form my hubby telling me to pack a bag and be ready to leave in 45 minutes. He totally surprised me and had his mom come and watch the kids for the night. We already had plans to go to our stake sweetheart dance. After the dance he had gotten us a room in town. It was so nice to just go and be Summer and Jason. I loved staying up talking to him and just hanging out. It is so easy to get wrapped up in the day to day. It was wonderful to go and be reminded why I love this man so very much!!
Valentines Day was dedicated to the kids. We started off after church decorating sugar cookies...
We then had the kids go downstairs so we could surprise them. We decorated the table and made menus for the kids. When we brought them back upstairs we explained to them that they were going to the "Golly Grill". Jason and I were their servers for the night. They got to choose what they wanted for dinner, just like at a restaurant. They had appetizers (carrots, applesauce, pizza rolls or little smokies), side dishes (salad, corn, green beans and potato casserole) and main dish (grilled chicken, spaghetti, steak and hot dogs). To drink was sparkling cider.
Dinner was served on these cute heart plates...
We ended the night with a chocolate fountain for dessert. The kids LOVED this...
I can not think of a better way to spend this day then with the ones I love. Like I said earlier, I always kind of laughed at this day. I thought it was silly that we had to have a day set aside to show our love for those we care about. This year I realized something though. While it is true we should show our love daily it is nice during all the crazy day to day activities to have a day set aside to show our love. I really enjoyed having a weekend full of LoVe. I truly am blessed!
