I have a weakness. One that I really struggle with. I try not to do it but I really have to concentrate on it! When I'm home I have a hard time just enjoying the moment. My mind is constantly thinking of what needs to be done next. We had the missionaries over for dinner tonight. As soon as I walked in the door from church I was in my gotta get things done mode, I gotta get dinner ready. I really hate this mode, but lets face it nothing would get done if I did not have this mode. As soon as we sat down to dinner my mind was going over everything that had to get done. I just got back in town Friday and still have not finished unpacking. I went to the store yesterday and still have not put all the grocery's away. I'm still not caught up on dishes. I just found out this morning in ward council that I need to plan a pancake breakfast for this Saturday. My list could go on and on of all things my mind was telling me I still had to do. As soon as dinner was over we were sitting in the piano room and I was really struggling. I was fidgeting and just wanted to jump up and clear the table and move onto dishes. Then something happened. Sister Cassinat sat down and started playing the piano. Within seconds this is what I saw:
Anika and Taylor were on her side singing along to I Know That My Redeemer Lives. I can not describe to you the spirit that entered our home at that moment. I was no longer worried that I still had a list a mile long of things that had to get done. I was just sitting there enjoying the moment. Enjoying my girls singing a hymn. Enjoying Jackson climbing on Jason saying "lickle me daddy lickle me" (that's two year old talk for tickle me). Enjoying Carter climbing on my back while he was playing peek-a-boo with Sister Lewis. Enjoying Lexi dancing and swirling her dress to the music. Enjoying just how wonderful it is to be a parent. Enjoying the sweet spirit these sisters brought into our home. Enjoying life! The dishes still are not totally done. I'm still not unpacked. And I still have my mile long list. But I would not trade that moment in. I am so grateful for such a simple thing reminding me to enjoy this time in my life.
