I think all girls do it. They all go through this stage. I know Lauren did and Cailyn a few years later. It appears to be Anika's turn now and it drives me
CrAzY!! They start forgetting things, sometimes small stupid things other times big important things, well important to me at least. Last week Anika left her lunch box at school. Not to worry I have a back-up lunch box for these types of emergencies. Here is the problem, she left that lunch box at school the next day. That night as I was packing her lunch, and cursing her for forgetting not only her lunch box but the back up box as well, I was trying to think of a way I could get through to her. I was also thinking of what to put her lunch in. That is when the glorious idea came. I would use the back-up back-up lunch box....the
DoRa lunch box. That's right I was going to put my fourth graders lunch in a dora box. the next morning as the kids were eating their breakfast I pulled out their lunches. You should of seen the confusion on Anika's face as I handed her the Dora box. That's when it hit her, I was going to make her take that
thing to school, walk the halls with it and display for all to see. I'm not sure who was more scared, Anika, or Lexi for fear that Anika would now leave her lunch box at school. I pretended to play dumb as she burst into tears and said "I can not believe my own mom is going to make me take that to school." I explained to her I was just trying to make sure she could get her lunch to school and did not know how else to do that since she left both lunch boxes at school. She just gave me the 'I'm not falling for that one mom' look. I asked her what she suggested we do. She came up with the brilliant idea of packing it in one of the paper sacks. Well needless to say after school she came home with not only her lunch box but the back-up box as well, she even went a step further, she came home with the paper bag I had packed her lunch in that morning.

i tried to get a picture of her smiling proudly with her lunch but she clearly was
NoT in the mood
