Bad luck Taylor...

So many of you know soccer season is back in session. Taylor was so excited for this season. We put her and her best friend, Izzy, on the same team this year complete with carpooling to and from practice. So I'm sure you could imagine Taylor's disappointment when during the second week of practice she went down. As Taylor likes to say "I was battling for the ball and did not win" Poor thing hurt her ankle so bad she could not even walk to the car. Thank goodness one of the girls dads was there to carry her for me...that girl is solid!

We had to take her in to a orthopedic. After some x-rays it was determined that she needed to be put in a cast and was not allowed to put any pressure on her foot. The injury was right at her growth plate and they did not want to mess around with hurting it any further. Not that the girl is not already tall enough...

As I'm sure you can imagine she was pretty excited. Taylor is one to shine in the spotlight. The thought of having to go into school on crutches complete with a cast...a dream come true for her. Even better she got to choose her color...Green!

When I dropped her off at school it was all green with the exception of where I had signed it. By the time school was over this is what it looked like....

As excited as Taylor was to get her cast on...she was excited to get it off! Turns out it is not as fun as one might think. Thank goodness it was only needed for two long weeks!

Ten minutes...

What if you were told that you would be given ten extra minutes...What would you do?!?

I guess it depends on what the ten minutes was added to. How about ten minutes longer of church...Ouch, three hours is LONG enough! Ten minutes added before you can put kids to bed....uggggh. Ten minutes longer added to your work day.....hmmmm...could be good or bad. OR what about ten minutes added to the school day. If your the student I'm sure your reaction would be....oh man! But if your the mom it is....oh YEAH!!!

That's right folks...I have just been handed ten minutes. My kids school day just got extended ten minutes for the rest of the school year to make up for a snow day. That's ten minutes longer of Biggest loser (now maybe I'll be able to see who gets eliminated before having to leave to pick them up). Ten minutes longer to get dinner ready. Ten minutes longer of the baby taking a nap. Ten minutes longer of peace and quiet. Ten minutes longer to actually post on my blog. OR ten minutes longer of procrastinating. Anyway you look at it I'll take my ten minutes!! Well looks like my ten minutes are over and I must leave to get kids....sigh.

Soccer season is once again underway....five girls playing leads to one very busy week! This is Lauren's last year playing since she is a senior. It will be a bittersweet day when she plays her last game. We threw the team a party the night before their game against West. This is their big rivalry! I decorated the place to help try to get the team pumped up:

The night of the game was FrEeZiNg!! I spent about an hour getting us all ready to go and everything packed up. I made hot chocolate, packed lots of blankets, got all the gloves and hats ready etc. Once we got there I spent the next fifteen minutes getting everyone dressed in their warm gear and the stroller packed up. The next ten minutes were spent walking to the field. Then another ten minutes getting the bleachers set up for us and hot chocolate poured for everyone. From there I spent 15 minutes listening to my three year old cry because he was sooo cold. So I packed us up and left...seriously?!? I spent more time getting us prepped for the game then I spent at the game.

But Taylor was the ball girl for the night. So she stayed with Jason in the cold and cheered the team on. Jason said he was so proud and spent more time cheering her on then he did the team.

While we did not spend much time at the game I love that my kids are always there for each other and try to cheer for each other all the time. They make one great cheer leading team!!

For our last ward activity we had a backwards party. It was a silly fun event. Everyone came dressed backwards. We had some fun games...all played backwards of course. We had the limbo...instead of "how low can you go" it was "How high can you jump"...

The highlight of the night was a fashion show. We picked ten of the best dressed and had them walk the catwalk. I put Matt Kelly in charge of the fashion show. He got really into it. He brought in a strobe light and a fog machine. Each person walked down the catwalk to different music. We Had a three judge panel. At the end they choose one male and one female for best costume.

My favorite one though is Carter dressed up like a girl. I could not resist using some of my girl things one last time. Isn't he a beautiful girl....

As part of our activity we held a silent auction to raise money for the Haiti Relief fund. It was a great opportunity for our ward to provide relief to those that were tragically affected by the earthquake. I had blown up pictures from the earthquake and had them as my centerpieces. Here are a few of the pictures that effected me the most:

It was a fun night but most importantly we did a great job helping those that need us in a time of need!
